What to check on any used tire

  • Tread depth. A tire worn to 2/32 of an inch is worn out.1
  • The built-in treadwear indicators: raised bars between the tread. Tread level with them means the tire is done.1
  • The penny test: with Lincoln's head upside down in the tread, seeing the top of his head means the tire should be replaced.1
  • The age. The last four digits of the DOT code are the week and year the tire was made.1

Buying used at ABC

  • New and used tires, all brands.
  • Tell us your tire size: it is molded into the sidewall.2
  • Some vehicle and tire makers recommend replacing tires six to 10 years old regardless of tread, so the date code matters on a used tire.1
  • Walk in or call (702) 432-6371.
